I have some old aluminum wheels for my old Porsche and I want the center spokes to be a near flat gray color (mag wheel look). the wheels are bare aluminum with a bead blast finish ( they don't need to be smooth a little texture would be better). i'm thinking of using some epoxy mixed to a sealer then top coat with some latex house paint sprayed on. what are your thoughts on this? the reason for the laytex is that I can get the color I want and the flatness I want for an easy job. what I'm really wondering is will the latex stick to the epoxy? or maybe I should use an etch primer?
then maybe I should just wake up and make a trip to my jobber.

What are you thinking, mate?

Wash primer, 2K etch, 2K sealer or primer and then finish with 2K solid, flatted to whatever degree of gloss (or not) that you want. Even better would be base coat with clear, flatted to your heart's desire.

Anything less than the wash primer and etch won't stick to the alloy and as for house paint ... :knockout:

I could go crazy with the smilies here. Every one of these would be applicable:

 :realmad: :rotfl: :splat:  :talkhand:

One thing for sure. I wouldn't want to be the next guy who asks this same question.
