I pulled the windshield and I’ve removed all adhesive except the bottom over the cowl. I was using a scraper and razor blade and it’s being a pain in the ****. I’ve gauged through the paint to bare metal in spots so I have to protect those areas at minimum.
My question is can I sand the adhesive flat and spray epoxy over what’s left(while also dealing bare metal spots). I’m afraid this will created a weak link in windshield adhesion, but I also am overly paranoid a lot of the time. Most of the old adhesive is off there’s just a thin layer left.

Try some lacquer thinner on a rag and see if it comes off.

Will this harm the cowl that’s already painted?

It shouldn't if the paint is new and not 1k rattle can.
You could put some lacquer thinner on a rag and test one of those raw edges you have. Not sure if you really need to take all that off anyway. If it's stuck real good you are just going to cover it with more adhesive. 1968 Coronet R/T

that should be a urethane adhesive. mineral spirits should work on it,too
if youre tearin down for repaint, one of those nylon wheels chucked up in a drill will help get rid of a lot of it. |
