Painting over new work and old existing paint on the plastic fairing of my Harley. I’m using touch up Aerosol base and topcoat. They sent clear but I’m starting to consider using 2k clear. Anyways, can I get away with Rust O Leum cheap primer? Or do I need an etching primer? If cheap is ok, which make would be best from Lowe’s or HD? If not, is there etching aerosols and would I find them only at auto stores?

Well, I only had Lowe’s available to I actually found rust oleum self etching primer and a white “universal bonding” product from same maker. That one actually cost more than the self etching. I figured I could return the one I don’t use once I figure out which I need to use.

If you want to use Substandard materials be prepared for Substandard results!
There are 1K and 2K Rattle Bombs Just a hint But I would use the 2K Products.
Your NOT gonna find 2K Rattle cans at Lows or Home depot though.
I have seen Many a repair done with 2K Rattle cans come out very acceptable.

Would I use them? NO!
