Yeah, if it is so light that you are concerned about busting through to base coat the 800 should be okay. Just remember, an 800 grit surface is kind of "slickerish" so the coating might tend to run/curtain a lot easier than the last time you shot it......

Just thought I'd circle back with the resolution. :mrgreen: Thank you all very much for your help!

I adjusted the gun using '68 Coronet's advice as a guideline and changed the speed of application. It was also around 8-10* cooler in the booth.

The clear went on much wetter and seemed to flow out great. I have some runs on the sail panel but I'm cool with that- not a big deal. They're just "flow indicators", right? :lol: It took about 160 oz sprayable to do 3 coats.

I'm very happy with how it turned out! Not a lot of texture to the finish so I'm hoping the cut and buff won't be too bad.
