I plan to spray a coat of clear over the existing paint on the roof and hood and upper doors of a 2001 landrover. Existing paint is still good except for a couple ofareas where the old clear has been thinned out. The existing paint has been wet sanded with 1000 fine sand paper.

I have a quart of ppg acrylic urethane DAU-75 and a pint of urethane hardner DU-5, and also a quart of Transtar 6534 acrylic urethane in case if I run out of the DAU-75.

Can some paint experts here tell me if these chemical will work on my car?

Thank you in advance

The problem you have is that the clear coat is failing. The clear coat provides protection of the color coat from UV rays. Once the clear coat gets too thin that protection is gone and the color/base coat is ruined.

Shooting clear over top of disintegrating color coat is a recipe for disaster (clear coat peeling off car in sheets) and a huge waste of time and money.
