I applied this filler a few days ago and primed either later that day or the next day. I started sanding today and I’m seeing these cracks. My only guess is too much hardener. Is this a thing that happens when mixing filler improperly?

Just had another thought, could this be from w&g remover over filler before primer?

Yep, improper mixing of filler.
Take it off and re-do. Chris

Yep it’ll be removed today. I guess I screwed up because I mixed an awkward amount. I didn’t need much and was trying not to waste material.

Well I’ve got a problem here. I removed all the filler, sanded smooth, and sprayed the area with epoxy. I came back a few minutes later and there’s cracking again. I watched this slowly spread.
The only two thing there are epoxy primer, polyester primer, and another coat of epoxy. This cracking is happening on 4 different areas. |

I looks like you have some incompatible materials. could you please list all the materials completely, name and type are any spray cans? the cracking looks like lifting to me. also what was the original paint before you started the repair. in the last photo it looks like there could be about 5 layers of material there? old paint or what?

Stripped to bare metal
Summit racing epoxy U.s chemicals eliminator polyester surface Block sanded, applied filler in 4 low spots (edit: filler was dynalite) epoxy Polyester surfacer No rattle can products. The funny thing to me is that the reaction is happening only where I had applied the filler, but the filler had been removed |

Similar issue and this reminds me I did use an evercoat glaze to fill in scratches and a couple pin holes. At this point all I know to do is to remove more material and try again |
Never ever put anything wet on sanded filler. Filler is like a sponge and can retain moisture for weeks. No reason to ever clean it anyway, just tack it off and prime. If the area around it needs cleaning, it should be cleaned before starting filler and bodywork. JC.
(It's not custom painting-it's custom sanding) |

I've heard this before, but every job I do with filler gets a complete wash with detergent and water, dried off before masking up and then a full application of Prepsol and wipe off before painting. Lots of other painters do the same. I've never had a problem and maintain that it is better to remove dust and other contaminants this way for a cleaner job.
Polyester - filler - epoxy - polyester. I'm more inclined to think this is the more likely cause. I would have gone epoxy - filler - epoxy. Regardless, if it's reacting then the only solution is to take it all off, at least in the affected areas. Chris
