Re-spray ???

Long story short I put down a black base and I lost my window for clear. Is it possible to sand base and then clear it ? If so what grit would be recommended? ...or do I need to sand and re-spray ?

Lightly, but evenly sand base with P800 or grey scotchbrite. Clean with water based alcohol cleaner, tack, blow and apply your clear.
