Darrel mentioned AutoAir. You can buy small "sample" bottles of this paint
to experiment with, and it comes in lots of striking colors. If you already have
an airbrush, it's perfect. Then clear the helmet using a 2K urethane spray can...

Get a hold of the guys at Coast Airbrush https://www.coastairbrush.com/ , they have everything and more of what you need.
But if you don't want to spend $100 on materials (and I fully understand) just spray bomb it and move on. You can get some decent finishes, but don't believe everything that you see on YouTube. If you want to get into a new hobby and plan on spending the time and money, then this is the place. Sent by the random thoughts from the voices in my head...

What's really nice is that the guy that runs it is and supports artists of all kinds. I took a class there and a bunch of big names in the custom industry were all there and all accessible including Mike Lavelle, Cory St. Clair, Danny D, Bugs, Triggerman etc etc The shop itself is a fricken candy store for custom paint and they are very helpful and not snotty at all.
