As it never fails when restoring an old car putting stuff together the Odd scrape or scratch always happens.

They certainly don't show those scrapes/bumps/scratches on the TV shows.

Why would they? Its all make believe fairy tale BS!

In my opinion all these fake shows give true Craftsmen with true talent a bad name.
I cant watch Fake TV myself makes me wanna puke.
They shovel it out as if its all real when its 100% made up BS crap.
The Paid for auto supply and Car parts and tool Infomercials are even worse BORING! Carcraft Eastwood videos on youtube come to mind.

Hello!
Amazingly I'm still painting this bike
I just shot an epoxy sealer over my smooth 600 wet sanded 2K primer. The sealer came out orange peel so I sanded the sealer with wet 600 but not completly smooth to starting to burn thru in spots. Feels nice and smooth but you see the texture.

My question is: will this (Almost) smooth texture show through the metallic base and candy top?
Thanks!

Orange peel will show.
I thought you said you sprayed the reduced epoxy as a sealer before and it came out like glass?

Generally orange peel is from spraying too far away from the panel or not having the gun set up right.

It did before but not this time  Anyways good to know that I can't get away with what I have. I will continue sanding and go very slow. What if I was to sand wet 1500? to avoid burn thrus. the epoxy is still within it's chemical adhesion window if I spray tomorrow.
Thanks!

I would shoot more epoxy striving for the "smooth as glass" look. You can always wet sand the epoxy with 600 grit prior to paint if you get outside the top coat window.

Finished painting and 1 round of clear on the tank. I'm really happy with the results. I still have to flatten the tank for decals but the side covers have decals and 2nd round of clear, I'm going to sand clear and do a third round of clear.

Is 1500 grit good enough to flatten between clears?

Also I had a brain fart and pointed the gun 2 inches from the cover and pulled full trigger!!

Thanks again!

Finished The Tank and side covers, putting on the decals was a scary exercise but it looks quite nice for my first attempt. If you look close you can see the imperfections but I know what I did wrong and next time i won't make the same mistakes.

Thanks again to everyone who helped me figure it out. I really appreciate it.

I've already started my next project, turning a 1978 XS650 into a chopper with a 70's feel paint job, now I just have to learn how to do a 70's style paint job!
