I’m going to be painting the shell on my TA. I have been using Axis epoxy as the foundation before the 2K and planned to thin it and spray it as the sealer but I just noticed they only say mix it as 4:1:1 as a sealer on the TDS. Any thought of it being a problem to thin more and use as a sealer? I thought mixing it the normal 4:1and up to x4 parts reducer is the norm. I have generally been adding x1 part reducer just to get it to spray and lay down before the 2K.

Also final prep wipe other than hitting it with a tack cloth prior to spraying? I have been using the wax and grease remover in the past when the car sat between stints of work but it has been covered since wet sanding. Is denatured alcohol a no no? Can’t get volumes of isopropyl alcohol to use.

Thanks in advance

I believe Axis is a sandable epoxy, meaning if your panels are straight
enough it serves as a substitute for high build primer. Perhaps you can
block out the epoxy and then spray the paint, without the extra steps of
spraying a high build primer and then sealer?

Do not use denatured alcohol as a cleaner. It can leave an oily residue.
Isopropyl alcohol mixed 50-50 with water makes a good cleaner for
fingerprints and such. A bottle or two is all you need.
Or just use W&G remover.

Just being cautious, but I prefer to use a sealer from the same brand that I am applying the paint from. Since right after sealing, you usually go to color.

I should have been clearer in my post. I am ready to do the color and have the 2K sanded and ready to spray. The 2K is sanded to 600 and consistent with no cut through to metal or primer. I think the surface is better than when I painted the AMC I race and it turned out great with the same materials. Matrix base and clear from a local jobber. Thanks for the input guys I’ll post pics tomorrow
