We bought the 12'x32' shed because it was the biggest we could get without a building permit being necessary.

It only had one door on the side and two windows at the opposite end of the covered entrance. I added the door and window and built the deck at the end facing our driveway.

Electrical work, insulation, drywall and flooring all took time to install. We put a combination Heater/AC unit in one wall sized to handle the square footage.

You can see it on the left side in this picture.

I built my garage 30'x40' thinking it would be plenty big enough for my project car at the time. (signature car) It was plenty big enough back then but now I can barely move in there. LOL

WOW NICE she shed! we built a new house about 10 years ago and i down sized the shop to 32x28 with a 50x18 on one end (prep room and booth) from what i use to have. i was going to get out of the major auto body work and just do selective work. now the down sized shop is well, you saw it. to small. i just have to stay focused on the cleaning. i want to get one corner cleaned out so i can get my reloading equipment out and have a good place to clean my guns and stuff. i have all the cabinets and everything just need the space.

I have my reloading equipment in the 10'x15' shed. However it is so cluttered right now I can't even get to the bench. LOL
Another project that may get moved to first place if need be.

I wish I had room/time to set up my reloading stuff.
Although I dunno if you guys have been out much lately But almost all old Side dirt roads and old forestry service roads and good Hunting areas I know of Have been blocked off by Wildlife Habitat sanctuary's Barring ANY Motorized vehicles! officially cutting anyone off from going off road! doesn't matter if there was an official road their before or not!

Old mining and forestry service roads that provided access to hunting areas and prospecting that were protected by the Mining Act of 1872 are no more! people were asleep! Legislation came in and back doord us! Its all over California, Nevada, and Arizona and many many other states. BLM rolled over! they no longer represent or protect land for people they are protecting it from people by blocking access! Thank the Siera club and a Demorat near you! I hate politics but enough is enough. What happened to FREEDOM? and the Pursuit of Happiness ?

They have been fighting for this for a long time and they succeeded!
They are and have been after Hot rods for a long time and they are winning! they are also fighting to control are Painting industry and keep guys like us out of it!
We got to fight back!

Yep, same here. We're limited to 25 square metres without having to get building approval. So her "studio" will be 3.5m wide x 7.0m long. Very similar to what you've built but with a skillion roof. Also to be filled with sewing machines.

Funny how we express dimensions. I'm old enough to have been taught the imperial system in school and still understand it. In fact I still use it for smaller dimensions so I'd still say I'm 5'10" tall and that a man's shoe is about 1' long. But, I use millimetres for small measurements and metres for large measurements. So, your 32x28 and 50x18 had me running for a calculator. Ahh, 10m x 9m and 15m x 5.5m - that I can visualise. That's pretty big compared to what I'm planning which is 12.5m x 8m (40 x 26).

Has been happening here too, for quite a few years. We used to have fire trails and tracks all through the bush - something that is essential for fighting the bushfires we have here with regularity. But National Parks started gating them off, giving the excuse that they were to be saved for emergency use only. Problem was that gated off trails don't get maintained so many of them are gone now and, of course, budget restrictions mean that they don't have the money to rebuild. One of the reasons why the fires here have been so bad - no access means they can't get in and fight it early. Of course, the justification is that they're "preserving" it. Preserving what? The blackened tree stumps? Meh. I love to get out in the bush and restricted access makes me angry.

I remember when you could go out to a gravel pit or a Field with a Hill and just enjoy the day sighting the rifles for hunting season or just for fun.
Now to go hunting you'll soon be required to go to some private expensive hunting lodge on private property.
For me I have had enough of running into all the signs restricting access to the areas I want to go to and have been to in the past its gotten crazy here. I need to figure out away to get enough people together to change things back the way they were.

Ok, this works.

There are a number of 4WD clubs around here and they've all got together and approached both State Forests and National Parks about getting access where such is part of a club activity and properly supervised and controlled.

There is now agreed access to certain tracks with the clubs taking responsibility. The payback is that each club spends at least a day a year doing maintenance work - usually stuff like removing car bodies, fallen trees and such like. It takes a while to get the gears of government actually turning but once they see some benefits they'll support it. Obviously super important that there is no hoon activity by any club members, but usually that's not just spelled out but well understood.

With 6 bigger clubs here we have over 1000 members and usually try to get about 20% coming along to help on the clean up days. That's 200 people donating their time, effort, equipment, fuel and labour to something that the government departments have no budget for. It's a powerful argument.

Yes That has worked to a point here in Nevada and they have Opened CERTAIN OHV areas! these areas used to be nice places to go now they are all tore up by concentrating OHV activity to a small area.

I am looking for a bit more, like taking the challenge to the Federal Supreme court.
Challenging the legitimacy of current law creating Wild life refuges that trump existing laws that were written to protect the peoples access to public lands from Blocking & Restricting access and mining.

These Wild life refuges are not being created by Congress and the Senate creating a new National Parks they are being created by the states, special interest groups and the BLM.

I need to stop now I get too excited about the subject, I wrote a Huge deal about all of it that few would care to read about this is not the forum for these arguments. let me also say I am sorry for taking this thread off topic its easy to do.

I didn't get anything done yesterday in the shop! I was lazy after work, Cooked dinner and sat on my Butt in front of the Puter!
Does anyone else do Most of the cooking in the home?
