Hey y'all, stupid idiot here.

I've got some small brown spots that just "showed up" on my white ranger. I did try and wash it off, scrub it with a microfiber, and claybar. Nothing seemed to take these spots off. It's dirty now, and not worth washing until April when the snow goes away.

In April I'd like to do some paint work and spray some bedliner. It makes me sad seeing my truck look sad.

just a guess but it looks like minute rock chips that have started to rust, a picture back a little so we could see just where its at might help. but if you only wash every 3 months why worry.

Tar spots.

You've driven past or through some roadworks at some time.

Remove with proprietary tar spot remover or Prepsol.

I think Chris nailed it.
The brown spots are where the tar used to be. Try some lacquer thinner on a rag and wipe those spots.

I get that stuff all the time. The stuff I get isn't tar. It appears to be something organic.

The usual stuff like bug and tar remover, alcohol, lacquer thinner and the like doesn't faze it.

I can buff it out but it takes remarkably long to do it.

I have had luck with one of those new Griot's clay things that looks like a thin, soft rubber on the foam pad. That seems to work great.

Back to what it is, I thought it might come off of trees or something. It could be some sort of mold or something. I've found some that seemed like little round shells stuck to the paint. I have a neighbors tree that grows into my yard and figured that stuff was coming off of it.

And, I've seen it on all my vehicles but it really shows on my (coincidentally) 2020 white Ranger.

try some DuPont's #7 auto polish its a light compound or DuPont's white polish ( Walmart)
