Hi Guys,

Got asked to look at a Gold Wing gauge panel. Plastic or fiberglass material. Any specific primer and or adhesin promoter required for a job like this? I'll see if I can attach a pic.

Thanks!! https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipP ... p1zu1FE_bz

i couldn't open the picture, but the key to lasting results as always is to scuff it up real good no shinny areas. you might think about some adhesion promotor for an economy job, Bulldog makes a good one in a spray can. its a good idea to always test a spot when dealing with plastics. spray as you would anything else.

Yep, link to photo is no good.

I have restored a couple of automotive instrument panels:

Beautiful work. After the adhesion promoter goes on, do you prime or just spray right on it? I know it will be on the TDS of course.

Thanks!!

I only use adhesion promoter if it's raw plastic.

One the GTX switch panel, I cleaned everything really well and used SEM Color Coat. It's flexible and made for this type of application.

Lettering was done with a paint pen:

You can't be in a hurry with this stuff.

Looks great....I would not of thought it came out of a rattle can. In my case he wants a HD color code, that I can get. Luckily it is only a gauge bezel on the bike so no lettering. I think it will be just a half day sand/prep and shoot. What could go wrong, LOL. My little jobs never stay little but usually come out great.
