i painted our R/C cars from the inside. just scuffed the inside with a scratch pad and some comet then sprayed the color. the bodies got beat up but the paint was still good.

so my current plan is to scuff( may try a light sandblast) and shoot epoxy primer. then ss urethane, then apply some small decals, and clear over them to protect them from the uv. these decals are more like a clear label that i can print on at home, so don’t think will last long without the clear. not sure if that will work, but i’m going to attempt it. i may end up having to get proper decals made with the lettering

I would epoxy, base, clear (speed clear) scuff then apply the decals and clear again. But I am a weekender rookie and still screw up a lot of stuff!! Sent by the random thoughts from the voices in my head...

i would let the first coat of clear dry a few days before you apply the decal. to soon and you trap solvents that cause bubbles under the decal.

i already have the ss, which is what i used on the cap and bottom of the boat, so i’d like to use it as my base, over epoxy. let that dry for a couple days, then decals, then clear over that. any problems doing it that way?
