After numerous delays, I finally got to clear that tank--actually 2 tanks. Washed with soap/water and then w/g remover. Gave them a light dusting of clear and then 3 med. wet coats. Used my little AZ4 gun and they look like they were dipped in plastic. The signatures really stand out over the silver base. I'd post up a pic but the owner asked me not to put it up on the internet so I am respecting his wishes (the tanks were signed at his Dad's funeral).

Thanks for all the advice on this and, now, if I ever get asked to do this again I have the confidence to take it on.

I always like a happy ending. The owner was pleased and told me that a lot of guys shy away from doing stuff like that for fear of runs....I feel a lot better about doing a job like that again.
