Hi Guys,
I have a job coming up that the owner has bought genuine HD paint. It is labeled "Acrylic Urethane" It states that it needs a 99825-02 activator. This is a single stage correct? So, it would not need a clear over it correct? Common since tells me to get the HD activator to be safe but, would a universal hardener work?
Thanks!!

I believe Harley Paint is just re-labeled and overpriced PPG.
If that is the case, any urethane activator should work. Maybe one of the pros can verify this for us? 1968 Coronet R/T

I'd be curious to hear also. Part of me says to shoot a test panel with his paint and my hardener and reducer to see how it fairs. It makes sense that HD paint is simply a rebranded main line of paint. |
Gunslinger one of the paint companies that paint factory Harley Davidson uses Shopline basecoat.
this sounds like it is a high solids basecoat, i would use the hardener, Description This item MUST be shipped UPS Ground only. No International Shipping. I just painted a luggage carrier for a friend. He bought the paint directly from Harley. Yes, it came with a hardener. It was a high metallic color, so I put some Tamco Euro Clear over it, so I could sand and buff it.

A couple years ago i did a tank and a fender. Harley had discontinued the special PPG color and the formula was unavailable. my jobber finally got some mixed from a PPG rep. at over 300.00 a pint.
