What is the latest verdict on using body filler over epoxy primer/ 2k ?

Body filler over epoxy is fine. Can be done without sanding if still in the re-coat window. Otherwise you will need to sand the area to provide scratch for the filler.

Best way to do it.

Ever strip an old car removing 20+ year old filler and find rust under the filler? I have!

Epoxy then filler = No rust under filler 20 years latter!

Well there you go, even with a little rust it lasted 20 yrs,
When filler done right, either way, it'll outlast the car.

Point being Rust had gotten in between Filler and the metal directly under the filler, probably from the back side. I don't remember as I cut the metal out and replaced it.
I find it like this on most old slide hammer jobs done long ago.
Had it been treated with Epoxy first front and back I don't think it would have happened. I treat the back side of metal panels with Epoxy now as much as feasibly possible.
