I am considering taking on a large job from a local municipality wanting someone to paint a very large water tanker to be used by the fire department. I need a durable paint that can be sprayed but is not too expensive. It needs to be some type of Red. I have considered Rustoleum which I have used in the past but wanted any advice of what else may be available. I will be needing approximately 25-40 gallons.

Use urethane from Kirker, you can get a gallon of red with activator
for around $100.00 a gallon. It's strong paint.

25-40 gal. is this a tractor trailer job? i did a tank truck for our local fire dept. years ago can't remember how much paint, but no where near that amount. defiantly go with a urathane S/S, i wouldn't put Rustoleum on a shovel if i was doing it for a customer. one thing you might think about is a pressure pot sprayer, i have one that i can put a one gal. can into and spray away, it will hold 2 gal. if you pour it in.
do you have a picture of this unit?
