The flares were attached by adhesive tapes. Would you please let me know the best way to remove them without damaging the paint underneath? I searched all over the internet. Some suggested using hair dryer, fishing line, dental floss, Goo Gone, WD-40, or gasoline. I'd appreciate any info from experts who removed automotive adhesive tapes installed decades ago.
Thank you for your help!

I use 3M adhesive remover.
I like the can with the small plastic spout so I can apply it along the top edge and let it seep down while gently lifting the molding. https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/b40070712/ 1968 Coronet R/T

i've used piano wire before with GOOD results to get the flair off, then use your adhesive remover.

If you do use the piano wire method maybe give it a light warmup with a hot air gun to soften the adhesive,

I always use a Stiff Plastic or a Phenolic Scraper to pry and cut off emblems and other parts that are glued on then clean with glue removers.
