Ok, I have NO idea what I am talking about - but to learn I'm going to throw out my idea to see how much I really need to learn...
There is a body line just above where the paint is scratched. Also, this is very low on the car, implying that it won't be *that* visible. So, could you not tape off right on the line, sand/prep below where the scratches are, and simply paint it below where you taped on the line? Hopefully I explained that right. I've done similar things on my older cars and most people don't even look that low...
