You can burn the Aluminum very easily watch your dwel times its critical!!!!
You really cant see the burning but beware it is worse than not using Alodine at all.
It will actually cause the Aluminum to start the corrosion process faster regardless of Top coat, Also causes loss of Top coat Adhesion.

When Burnt it leaves a Powdery dust on the surface, When done correctly no dust.
Wipe with clean dry white cloth if it is clean your good if its coming back golden in color you got problems.

We use fairly Large Tanks to treat parts in Alumiprep first then a quick timed dunk in Alodine Tank. Using Tanks is the best ensures nice even etch its the only way to go.
Spray bottle method will get you in trouble burning parts fast, Its fine for small spots and small parts but something like that Nose Cowl I would definitely use a Tank for.

Yesterday, That's ppg cre epoxy primer, it's tintable, I wouldn't call it color matched though, just close. I spoke with the ppg tech rep, he said the high end shops aren't using high build poly primer, just lots of this stuff to build and block... It's pricy, but, according to him there's hardly any shrinkage. I didn't even know blocking epoxy was a thing! I paint aircraft almost every day... it's been years since I've shot bare steel... much less acres of it.

I used the one choice metal prep system a while back, for 2 reasons, one to protect it from any atmospheric rust causing moisture until I could set aside a full day to get it into primer... Second because I wanted to convert any no-see-em teeny rust. It's been about 2 months from the time of treetment.

The ppg tech rep said the sx treatment and conditioner are meant to be shot within a short time frame, so I needed to sand it before priming. That was yesterday, 6:30 am to 5 pm... long day.

A seriously long day.... probably why it took so long to get to this point, mainly because, once you start, you  can't stop until it's all sealed up. Any way, yesterday was the first full day I could devote to it in a while, and that didn't include commute time. Now I'm free to chase dings and block at will daily, (search & destroy) I estimate 2 weeks to paint.

Any way, lots of good music.

Gordon Lightfoot, Beatles, doobies, heart, Taylor, rush, Boston, Fleetwood, wilbury's, Petty (did you know he od'd on fentnyl? ****) Beach boys, def Leppard, Zep, yes, elo, elp, Asia, Ramones, queen, acdc, derek&dominoes, bad co, the church, romantics, who, Kansas, vh, I'm sure a bunch of others I'm forgetting, I forgot daft punk.... there good for a driving beat when you get bogged... What a great day... just long.

.
No I didn't know what killed him, don't follow social media at all and don't much care for Hollywood elites or their political opinions or personal lives, I could care less!!!
BUT I was sad to hear of his passing he made a lot of great music.

I do care about Politics though and follow that, Mid terms cant come soon enough!

I haven't read about that Epoxy your using I will have to look into it.
Doesn't shrink???? Hmm Do me a Favor and when you mix up a batch too much Leave it in a Mixing cup on a shelf some place for a few weeks then a month or two and even a year or two. See how much it shrinks over time? All the Epoxy's I have used so far ALL Shrink and continue to shrink over a Long period of time. I have had some Hockey pucks that continued to shrink for way over a year with the top getting harder than the bottom.
Not saying its a true test but when the stuff pulls away from the cup sides in just a few days to a couple weeks that's some serious shrinkage. When applying it to a car its going on so thin it doesn't react the same way so its not really a good test but all the same shrinking is shrinking.

I would be very hesitant in using any Epoxy as a Hi build no matter what a sales guy claims or a Manufacture claims I have to see it first hand myself I have been promised the world too many times by Greedy corporations selling Snake oil with Bold claims.
I stick to tried and true and what works for me.

Car looks good in those pics by the way keep up the good work! :goodjob:

Ya, it's a pretty big Playlist they're all on it as well, zztop and santana as well. As far as building for blocking goes, the body is pretty **** straight, it likely won't take alot..

Thanks G. I'd love to do some YouTube vids but the cashish is going into the car not video production equipment, so this is it for my documentation..
