The clearcoat on my 2004 chevy Silverado is chipping on the hood and roof. What would the best way to remove this?

Once the clearcoat has failed, as it has here, it no longer protects the basecoat, which now may also be considered as failed.
Remove all paint, back to metal and respray. Chris

Thanks, would sanding with 80 or 100 grit be the fastest way or is there another option?

That's what I would do or have it media blasted.......there is also chemical stripper but, that is real messy. |

I hope your young, its going to take some time with an orbital if you can lock out the orbit do that. you need an electric angle sander and a 8" foam backing pad and 36 grit.

A regular electric buffer works real fast with 80 grit.
Orbitals are for finish sanding, way to slow for stripping. JC.
(It's not custom painting-it's custom sanding) |
