I was applying my first coat of base coat and this happened. No damage before application. Sanded and reapplied and didn’t happen the second time. What do you all think happened?

Looks like one of the kids hit it with the rhinoceros stamp.
Probably an oil or grease or fingermark that wasn't cleaned off before painting. Really no way to be sure from that photo. Of much more concern is the crazy overspray. You planning on selling that piece to 3M to include in their abrasives range? Chris

it's definitely some sort of contamination or
moisture in the supply air. JC.
