Hi Guys,

I have a guy that wants me to shoot his tank. Problem being is that he knows it has a leak as there is a large bubble in the paint down low. Tank is single walled. He tells me that he tried sealing it with POR15 but that seems to have failed. Besides telling him to bring me a good/new tank, what can I recommend to seal it up before I paint it?

Thanks!!

I would require a new tank.
Why waste your time and his money? Besides, once POOR15 is applied, it's worthless anyway.

Your options are to:
A) Cut it apart, clean all that POR 15 garbage out, find the leak(s) and reweld - That's what I did to the tank below because I had always wanted to
B) Get a new tank
C) Live with a trash product that the guy won't bother telling people he was too cheap to do correctly

I'm going to really try to sway him towards a newer tannk....it is a mid '80;s Honda so I don't know how easy that will be. He's a stand up Guy, brought me other work as well and a referral so I want to do him right. He is NOT in any way blaming me for anything--he knows the tank leaked and is more than happy to have me do another spray and pay me. I feel for him since it came out looking like I dipped it in glass.

don't stick your neck out and be mister nice guy YOU WILL BE SORRY! i hate to put it to you like this, but ive done it before more than one time i have a soft hart. the failed por-15 is the clincher, i wouldn't touch it. have you looked on Ebay for a tank ? what year and model is it? i know a lot of people in this type of thing.
