I believe Chris mentioned that lacquer thinner would take it off.

IF you decide to use the lacquer (should work) DON'T saturate it. damp rag and lightly rub. just don't go overboard with it or you may have other issues to deal with. you have a couple broken edges there and then normally don't like lacquer to much.
