Okay i know this base calls for 2 Parts Wandabase HS Basecoat
1 Wandabase HS Reducer 407.04030 or High Temp Reducer 422.02997 but upon searching a little i found people saying not to use that reducer and they recommended another ..mainly my question is how often do people get away with using another brand reducer and who has done it ?
Wandabase hs alternate reducer?

As long as it is a quality urethane reducer, you shouldn't have any issues.
I painted this Jeep with Wanda and used another brand of reducer (and activator). That was 7 years ago and the owner has since moved to California and drives it to the beach front. He called me about a year ago to tell me it stills looks brand new. Personally, I prefer base coat that mixes 1:1 with reducer so I get more ready to spray paint for my money. 1968 Coronet R/T

For reducer I carry only a single, general purpose fast reducer for base coats and 2K primers. Also use it in epoxy and various other things. Never had a problem, but it is an Axalta product and therefore high quality.
I have another reducer specifically for urethane clears and again it is an Axalta product but used in various other brands. Same thing - no problems, but only used up to 5%. I use 2 different reducers for acrylic/lacquer and never use these with any 2K products. I do try to use the correct hardeners for 2K products but, on occasion, have used general purpose hardeners and not had a problem. Don't think I'd like to push my luck too far though.
But it's so thin you need 27 coats to get coverage. My economy (610) base mixes at 1 part paint to 0.8 parts reducer while the premium Cromax 6000 base mixes at 3 to 4 parts paint to 1 part reducer. One and a half coats and she's done. ![]() VOC compliant too, for those who're in California.....or care. Chris

Not so. I have been using Automotive Art Motobase LV and it sprays and covers in 2 coats mixed at 1:1. 2000 Dodge Dakota in primer: 2 Coats of base, 3 coats of Clear as sprayed: 1968 Coronet R/T

What do u mean by activator i thought it was just 2 parts wandabase and one part reducer?? |
Activating the base coat is done by adding up to an ounce of clear coat activator to 20-22 ounces of reduced base coat prior to spraying.
Hence my statement of reducer and activator. 1968 Coronet R/T
