I paint as a hobby from working on my 71 Vett. I painted my dad’s passenger door and thought I did everything correctly. Then work looked good but after a few months the paint started cracking under the clear coat. Anyone know what I did wrong?

So, first, let's start with "corrrectly." Tell us what you did.... like did you go down to bare fiberglass, work over existing paint, did you do any chemical stripping or just sand strip/prep., what "kind" of paints, what were your steps/equipment, etc?????? Cracking like that results from some "piece" of that puzzle being off....

Clue is in the paint chip.

Way too thick and looks like acrylic.

I fixed dent with bondo, o/g cleaned, 2k primer, o/g cleaned, base coat, tack cloth, then clear. Inexpensive paint and primer from Automotive Touchup.
