Ya big meanie. :knockout:

OP hasn't been back since he threw all the toys out of the cot.

I wasn't going to say anything on this but fairly sure it was my post that got up his nose. Not sure which comment it was, specifically but it doesn't matter. I used caps and underlining for important steps. I see it all the time here - people believe that they need to get full coverage in the first coat and then bucket on two more, just to be sure. But they don't understand that the thinners content will soften the substrate, and in this case get underneath a layer and make it fry up. Even more important when using a base that mixes 1:1 or 1:1.5 (base to thinner), not as big a deal when using premium products that mix 3:1 or, of course, waterbase. But, people inevitably go for the cheaper variety because they think that will save them money. Never does.

I've had "fry ups" literally hundred of times. 20 years ago when Hyundai/Kia were using thermoplastics on bars and mirrors it was just about every single job and Holden used the same junk on mirror shells and door handles. No blends on any of those - strip off every bit of paint and hope you hadn't missed a spot, even an edge or just a smear left on the plastic. Not so bad these days but occasionally a feathered edge will raise its ugly head. The thing is that I know what to do about it, how to fix it before progressing to clear and it's not going to be a big issue. That's why I'm specific in instructions - because I know that if they think they know better it will recur.

The other thing is people who ask for help but mislead in their descriptions of what happened or what they did or products they used. Omission is as bad as deception in something like this. How can you give someone good advice if they won't tell you the whole story? As for the "just one spot has shrinkage" comment, clearly not true.

I'm not going to say here what I think of the entitled generation(s). One day I'll go to America (because it is on my bucket list) and Dennis and I can swap opinions over a cold stubbie. :goodjob:

Here ya go, mate. First one's on me.

Now, before you crack 'er, you need to know that this beer is made in Queensland. It's hot up there, so even if they can't do much else they have the best Rugby League team in the world and they do know how to make good beer. But why do they call it "XXXX"?

Because they can't spell "B-E-E-R". :splat:

I'm off to put a couple in the frig............
