]Hi, please if you could look at the following pictures. If I took my car in somewhere would they be able to eliminate the rust and somehow blend in paint?

Anything can be fixed, it really comes down to how much the car is worth to you.

Rust is always much worse that it looks. That rusted hole in the first picture is going to require some serious metal replacement.

How old is the car, what make is it, what is the paint color code and the overall condition of the existing paint?

The first two pictures look to be the same and show what looks to me like rust in a chrome strip. If so, replace the strip but be aware there could be problems underneath too.

The third photo looks like a roof gutter and that could be difficult given that there could be 2 or even 3 layers of metal there and the rust may have spread to panels or supports underneath. Certainly repairable but isn't going to be cheap.

The last photo looks like a garnish of some kind. Maybe just replace?

It would help if you took some more pictures, taken from a bit further back so we can get a better feel for the location of the problem spots.

In those pics, can you poke a screwdriver easily through it--my guess is yes. My limited experience tells me that once it is that bad, no way other than to cut it out and replace with good metal or replace the whole panel. Just my thoughts, the experts will give you the correct answer.

For the doors, yes fixable if you can get replacement sections (which would indicate that Volvo know about the problem) but expensive. Maybe finding used doors from a wrecker would be a much more economical option.

The roof rust is also fixable and availability of replacement sections would make it easier than having to fabricate. But it's a big job too, needing removal of roof lining and lots of interior trim.

Is it worth it on a 2004 Volvo? Your call, but I'd say not.

:goodpost: YEP, if you take it to a shop make sure they're going to fix it right. most of those places need metal replaced, NOT just filled in. if a shop does the repairs you most likely will have more into it than the car is worth.

If I hold off on doors and look into getting the roof rust under control how much do you think that would cost? If I help with sagging roof liner and trim maybe that could help with cost?

Maybe a little. If I were you, I'd really look at the total cost of repair and see if the car is worth it. Maybe it has some sentimental value and that is something only you can calculate that but on a market value, maybe the car is not worth the total $$ to bring back and it might be better to sell it as is and start from fresh, or, as I have heard the phrase, "drive it into the ground". I don't prescribe to that theory as I'm a car guy at heart but there is a limit. Easy for an outsider to say all this I know. I have been there and put more $$ into a car that was not worth it and ended up selling for a loss. Just my .02
