Hello, I would like to ask wheter or not it would be safe to use white spirit as paint thinner when mixing metallic car paint?

Or is there a better or perhaps safer alternative?
What would you guys use.

Thanks.

Water base should only ever be thinned with the correct water mix, usually demineralised water. You should always follow the recommendations in the TDS for the product you are using.

White spirits (mineral turps) is only for oil based gloss house paint. Never use with automotive paints, water or solvent based.

The best thing is to thin it with whatever solvent the manufacturer recommends. You should have instructions, or a TDS sheet for whatever paint you are using. It will tell you what to mix it with, how much, flash times, recoat times, and everything else you need to know when using it.
