Have a 2008 Toyota Sienna. It’s old and has plenty of scuffs and scratches which don’t bother me. However it also has some cracks in the paint that appear to have rust beneath. I live in SoCal where rust isn’t a huge issue but it’s been pretty rainy for his year and the spots have slowly started to expand.

Is there a product I can spray into / under the paint to abate the rust? Or is the only way to address this scraping/ sanding / painting, or replacing the panel all together?

:welcome: i hate to say it, but that pretty bad you'll want to get that off and see just what's going on under there. take some pictures and let us see. its going to take some body work and paint, and I'm not talking show quality but to get it to look descent. do you have tools to do this? if not you might want to search around and try and find someone to do it. an independent to keep cost down. or posibly you could do the body work. we just need to see what it looks like.

Do you know if that area has been repaired before?

I have found that often those types of cracks and large portions lifting are from previous repairs.

Agree. Previously repaired.

With a guard like that on a reasonably modern car it's usually just not worth repairing. You can buy a new guard, aftermarket or even genuine Toyota, quite cheaply and removing the old one and replacing with the new should take less than an hour with a 10mm socket and a Phillips head screwdriver, plus maybe a clip remover. You'd need to release that side corner of the bar as well, but that's not hard either.

Ideally, you'd want a shop to paint the new one for you and this can be done fairly cheaply, before you fit it.

Clearly NOT the way to fix Rust, I would realy love to go off on guys like this.
Whats really incredible and unbelievable is the number of views and Positive comments.

Proper repair?
Buy a new fender easiest fastest way and have it painted, Matching Hard water spots and bad finish on rest of car may be a Problem though.
