If I'm a DIY'er with no experience and not expecting showroom qualify results, can I just sand my car down like this, hit it with some primer and just repaint the same color?

I have an 03 Mustang GT with faded paint all over, just a project car to see what it's like.
What do y'all think? I like his idea of switching out sandpaper often and just getting it all outta the way real quick. 9 minutes and 20 seconds into the video
Or is doing it by hand the way to go?
What's wrong with sanding like this?

If the clearcoat has failed, like in the video, then the only way is to take it all back to bare metal. You can do that with a DA and P40 but there are better alternatives. If you just scratch up the surface like he has and paint over, even with a primer, then you're building on an unsound base and the new paint will fail. That's a lot of effort, paint, sandpaper and time wasted.

Yeah, it's pretty sad that videos like this are posted and that people actually believe what's in them and follow such poor advice. Still, I did like one of the top comments
Nope. Chris
