Can Bondo be put onto paint? Or is it only supposed to go on bare roughed metal? I have sanded things down and found rust under Bondo.
Help with how to reattach am emblem that one of the plastic studs broke off.

As a rule, I NEVER put bondo, or even glaze, over paint. Only over bare metal, or epoxy primer. As for the emblem, if you still have the broken off stud, maybe try the super glue and baking soda method? If not, just use thin, double face tape used for automotive moldings.

I strongly advocate epoxy primer be the first thing you put on bare metal. Can't even count the times I have found rust under body filler.

Jay, you just put a mound of baking soda on whatever plastic you want to repair, and drip super glue onto it, until it's saturated. Within a couple seconds, it's hard as a rock. Never tried it on something like a stud , that takes lots of stress, but it works very well for rigid plastic repairs. I hear using graphite powder is even stronger.

I believe the baking soda is really just a filler to create a non sagging glue? Kinda like adding telc powder to liquid epoxy.

The graphite is supposed to make the epoxy slippery I think. Common on drift boats the go down shallow rivers.
