Hi,

I have been painting my -65 Volvo Amazon front fender. I was painting the car with grey acrylic paint. Painting was done in garage condition. Something went wrong in the painting since paint didn't connect to surface or it looks like there is water in the paint.

I have small water prevention system before my spray gun (part of the pressure meter) and I have used silicon remover and sanded the surface with k600 paper.

Afterwards I emptied the compressor and noticed that there were like 0.5dl of water inside the tank. Air was really dry during the painting.

Any advices how could I prevent that to happen again when re-painting this?

Was it just the one panel? If so, I would say it is from contamination.

Did you wipe your panels clean with automotive Wax and Grease Remover?

I had two similar panels and for only this one I had this issue.

I wiped the panels carefully with grease and silicon remover.

Prepsol wiped on but not wiped off.

You can see the streak marks where it wasn't removed and subsequently fisheyed.

Correct way is to spray on then wipe off. Use an absorbent cloth, cotton or microfibreand press a little firmly to make sure you pick it all back up.

This could be what happened. I did wipe the panel with microfiber cloth that had silicon and grease remover. The cloth was totally wet of this remover liquid. I didn't wipe it off.

Another alternative that I have thought is that oil came out from air compressor? I have the small water remover but it may not be sufficient?

No "could be", did.

Drain your compressor daily when in use and prior to each painting session. Fit a regulator / water separator on the outlet and another on the wall of your booth. The water separators that go on the gun inlet are not just useless but get in the way as well as upsetting the balance of the gun.
