Hey guys! New guy here, hoping you can help as I'm trying to do this today :)

I got a fiberglass hood that I already primered last week with 2K Urethane Gray Primer, just got done wetsanding it with 400 Grit.

I'm using a Metallic Red basecoat (ready to spray Urethane) and then a Urethane clear with medium reducer, 4:1 mix - all at around 75F in my garage.

The big question is :

1. How long do I wait between the basecoats (applying 2 or 3 coats)
2. How long do I wait before going to the clear coat and then between the clear coats?

Thanks!

If you've sanded with P400 wet you will be able to see sanding scratches in the basecoat. Keep sanding to P800 wet to get the best finish ready for base.

Flash times will depend on temperature, humidity and how thick each coat is. At 20-25C a flash time of 10 minutes is fine with a medium wet coat. Probably better to allow extra, say 20 minutes and then at least double that before clear.

Base coat should appear evenly flat (i.e. not shiny) before recoating but this assumes light to medium coats. If you put on heavier coats then it may take much longer since the top will flash off but the paint will still be wet underneath.

Your Tech Data Sheet(s) will have information specific to the paint(s) you're using.
