Sprayed black primer on my hood yesterday evening. After spraying 3 coats I let it dry for a bit. I came back at around 7pm and it felt smooth, and was not tacky to the touch. Note, at this point it was solid black. I woke up this morning and checked on it and now its kinda gray/white and it has streaks. In the photo it looks like it has water on it, but it is completely dry, and it feels a little tacky to the touch. Did I do something wrong?

Sorry for the lack of information. Sanded with 220, a little big of body filler for some dents and dings. Degreased and sprayed SMR-260B/261 2.1 VOC Epoxy DTM Primer/Sealer Black.
I assumed it was previously wet because of dew. But I think it was pretty dry by time the sun went down. I think I heard somewhere that primer absorbs a lot of moisture? If the primer was not completely dry by time it got wet would that have damaged it? I guess I just need to know if its safe to continue sanding and spraying paint. Thanks for the help so far. |
Dew? Looks more like the results of that super magpie that's been using my car for target practice lately. Yeah, don't leave freshly painted stuff out at night. If the dew doesn't get it the magpies will. ![]() Chris
