Hi all,

Thanks again for all your help getting the race car painted. I have an unusual need at the moment. I just got back my header from Swain Tech coating (true ceramic for race cars). I confirmed with them that a top-coat can be applied on top of the coating to help with discoloration, finger prints, oil/grease etc. the Swain coating is very porous.

Any recommendations for header paint you have used and like the performance of? Don’t need it to do any “work”, since the Swain is there for the heat. Just need it to be a reliable finish that can be cleaned. It can be in a can or 2K. Painted the whole car from bare metal so I have the tools.

Thanks so much!

:goodpost: i'm just now building some headers for my street rod project and the Cerakote is going to be my go-to coating. Dave do you have any experiance with this product? i'm also building an aluminum intake that i also want to coat. i used some ceramacoat years ago on a atv i ran in the sand dunes here. it was a liquid that you baked on in an oven. the bike was a 4 stroke and in the sand it ran HOT and i ran it HARD. THE COATING NEVER BURND OFF.

Product look interesting
Dave I checked out web sight did not find any info on which had better performance in Oven dried cured and Air cured. Do you have any insight in the difference?

I do not have experience myself, but every time i get someone wanting a project like that i direct them to a Cerakote business. so far everyone has been extremely happy

i just know it to be about the best coating for those applications.

Not 100% sure what your need is But I have been using VHT for ~ 50 years with out a problem. There is only 1 ceramic coating I have had success with and that is Jet hot. Their process I believe was developed by NASA and they were the original ceramic coating for headers. Everything else has failed. My machinist was baffled after dyno'ing a motor with JH coated headers as there was NO change to their appearance.
the VHT is very durable and whatever gets on it generally burns off. If not easy touch up
