Hello everyone!
I'm new to this forum so please don't judge if I don't ask the correct questions in the right way.I'm working in a big body shop in the UK where nobody is willing to teach me how to spray or how the whole painting system works.I'm prepping primer for 3 painters and also polishing their jobs on my own in the last 2 years and I don't know why but I have the feeling because I'm good at what i'm doing,people are taking advantages of me and not willing to train me.I can't afford to go to college for 3 years , neither can do apprentice and there is not a single available course in the area where I live, meanwhile there are few courses like 5 days or something but with too many bad reviews which in last case I will give a try.If you can share some ways of learning how to spray like books with explanations or tips about starting to spray and how to train to become the best please do it.Cuz I don't want to just do the job and fix it later.

WELL it sounds like you've put in you time as a freebie. you are getting paid to prep primer aren't you? and you should get paid for the buffing work does the shop have a manager? its to bad someone there won't take you under there wing and help you learn. if you were here i would teach you EVERYTHING i know BUT then you still wouldn't know anything. i feel for you, it really burns me when someone WANTS to learn but the people that know won't help. i suspect they might be afraid you'll be better than them. one thing you might try is to get an old fender sand it and prep it for a top coat. ask someone there if you have a questions explain to them you need help. when it ready to top coat try and get one of the painters to squeeze you in to spray some paint on it.

There are books available on how to paint, and they will give you the basic mechanics of how to set a spray gun up and how to shoot, but in the end, it all comes down to practice, and lots of experience. It would help if one of the painters could watch you and point out what to do, and what you are doing wrong. But in your setting, this might not be possible, due to work constraints, and/or not wanting to give away their "secrets", or put their job in jeopardy.
So, get yourself a spray gun and practice. Watch the painters in your shop, and discretely ask questions about what they are doing, esp. if this seem to go wrong. But go slowly, and don't be a pest, or ask too many questions at one time.
You might even ask around to see if anyone does painting on the side, and may need some prep help. Then, in a more personal setting, they might be more inclined to give you advice and instruction.

you are learning, being in the position you are in is key to being a good painter.

If you can name any book for the basic staff like types of paint, way of putting gun settings etc still will be help and In meanwhile I’ll get Devilbiss combo kit and some old panels and start learning and stick around.
