Rebel Racing wrote:Hi Guys,

Doing a bike tank and side covers for a guy. He has picked the colors (a 2 tone job) but he wants them to have a lot more metallic in them. Crazy thought (and this will show my total lack of knowledge on flake), could I shoot the base that he has picked and then mix in some medium flake in the clear. Spray as many layers of that as needed to get the desired metallic effect. Then apply my clear as I usually do. I realize it will take more layers to really bury the flake and possibly a flow coat. Am I nuts for thinking this way??

When does your material show up?

Where's the progress pics???

Flakes should be here tomorrow. I've only made a template where the second color goes--kinda like a funky teardrop that takes a big part of the side of the tank and covers that is by a 3 lined pin stripe decal. Been a bit delayed in getting it primed as we have had a family member in the hospital the last week or so but that reached it's end today so once we get arrangements made I'll be back on track to get this started. I defiantly will post up some pics along the line.

Just finished the flake/intercoat on the 2 spray out panels. My FLG-5 with a 1.8 tip laid it down really nice, lots of material but moving fast seemed to work for me. Getting too late so I will clear them tomorrow. Looks nice so far. Pics tomorrow night for sure.
