1st post here, really needing some good info as I'm questioning myself! Went to Vo-tech for 2 years and spend 2 years in body shop so I have a decent understanding, but haven't done much in the past 20 years. I'm a good body man/metal worker. Painting is a whole different ball game!
I'm in the process of rebuilding my sons 2012 Camaro, he rear ended a trailer crushing everything from the bumper up! no frame damage, just replace the core support and all body panels. car had a bunch of hail dents so worked all those. I have currently primed and blocked the car twice and ready to shoot the body but I'm worried about shooting base over some of the sanded clear. Basically I had a few spots on both doors to fix and then sanded the rest of the door, went thru the clear in some areas where I worked it. I have never tried spraying base over clear, just wondering if I should spend the time and sand everything down to base/primer? I've spent the last 4 months working on this so I really don't want to screw it up! Any and All help would be greatly appreciated!

I would recommend spraying a sealer first.
If you have a quality epoxy primer on hand, you can mix it 1:1:1 and use as a sealer. It's a great way to prevent wrinkling and will also let you see what the final results will look like. Here's a quarter panel on my '68 GTX project sprayed with a white epoxy mixed as above. 2 of 3 coats of Base applied: 1968 Coronet R/T
