Looking for some insight on Flat, Matte, or Satin black for hood and spoiler contrast on my sons red Camaro I'm in the middle of refinishing. I had originally painted them Flat black before he totaled it, I was not very happy with it! It always looked dirty. It was a cheap single stage paint before. I was hoping for a better option. I would rather not wrap them, but like that look. Maybe a Satin Black with a Satin clear? or just another single stage in satin or matte instead of flat? Here's a before he totaled it pic!

Common issue with matte and even satin blacks. That and so difficult to paint and have spotlessly clean, even in a booth.

Personally I try to talk customers out of flat or matte black. I'll do satin but there's no way you can tell me that a bonnet in gloss black doesn't look just awesome.

You should reconsider the wrap idea. Carbon fibre would look great, and if you don't like it, it's quick to change.

Vinyl in regular wrap style is pretty good. Cast vinyl will last longer and is easer to take car of. I had a sign shop do my Hemi Ute in cast vinyl. I liked it a lot but wanted more of a texture look to it. I have one of my guns just set up for shooting Raptor Bedliner. Regular mix on the Raptor and add about 15% urethane reducer, 2.0 tip. Gives you a very fine even texture. We used Raptors adhesion promoter over the vinyl.....

i wonder how old school Camaro stripes would look in gloss black? AWESOME Darrel, like the idea of thinning the Raptor Liner. i want to do this at least inside the box on my 31 chevy pickup.

Jay, yeah, thinning, right? You can do up to about 15 percent according to Raptor tech. without affecting the performance.... I tell you though if it's something that is going to get wear/abuse I'd do full strength Raptor with either the regular shutz gun or the varinozzle model then save the finer texture with thinning for the last coat....
