Guys,
I took a break from working on my cars to paint a coffee table at the request of my wife. I ordered some Hollandlaq paint and primer and after sanding off the original finish I primed then sanded and then top coated it. I let it flash between the three coats about 10-15 min. The problem is is it looks like the solvents from the first coats bubbled up through the later coats as near as I can tell. Please see attached pics. I was going to call the pain manufacturer and ask them what they think but thought I’d ask you guys too to see if anyone has any thoughts. Appreciate your assistance.
Mike

They're fisheyes, not solvent pop.
Contamination on surface or possibly incompatible paints. Chris

looks like massively heavy wet coats and yes fish eyes. maybe you should start looking for a new table for the wife.

That table probably has oils and waxes embedded in it like
most old furniture does. It's a common problem. The solution is to mix some "fish eye remover" in your paint before you apply it. Most auto paint stores carry it. JC.
(It's not custom painting-it's custom sanding) |
