I started blocking the final coat (Hopefully) of featherfill G2, and plan to overcoat with thinned epoxy as a sealer. The featherfill instructions say to sand to 400-600 grit before overcoating. I plan on using the original color for my car, a 66 GTO, and the color is Marina Turquoise, which is considered a metallic. I have read that metallics need a higher grit finish in order not to show scratches. If I go to 600 grit, then overcoat with thinned epoxy, is it as simple as scuffing the epoxy and shooting color, or does the epoxy need to be sanded to a particular grit as well?

Thanks
Drew

I would go with the 600 grit. If you’re using the epoxy as a sealer & you are within the window of paint time you shouldn’t have to scuff or sand. Just spray the color. If you’re past the window time you will need to sand or scuff.

Thanks, Ill definitely be past the window. I just wanted to get it in sealer and then start working on the drivetrain over the winter. If lucky, shoot color next year sometime.
