Hi ,
Sorry but it has been over a decade since i have painted and the internet is full of confusing info...
I need to tape for a 1/4" stripe with a slight radius on a white base before secondary color on a tri color paint and wondering if 3m fine line is still the go to tape for this. Read about a LIME LINE tape??
Just wondering what the general concensus is these days for the best tape at a reasonable cost.
Thanks, Joe

Hi Chris,
Thanks for verifying this Sir.... 2010 (last time I painted) 3M was the go to, some things never change... Have a great day....Joe |

Well, I am finally going to disagree with one of this site's experts. The 3M blue vinyl tape is still a good choice, but FBS is a better choice. Though I doubt you would notice a difference (including the Lime Line stuff) for that one line that you showed on the bike tank. The FBS stuff comes in four different colors with each having a different bend radius. I end up using a lot of the orange vinyl and the "Le Bleu". FBS also makes an awesome Gold K-UTG crepe tape (totally different than the orange vinyl) which is awesome for back masking. Sent by the random thoughts from the voices in my head...

Chris,
Do you use the 3M 471+ for circular curves and tight corners? There are so many variations of 3M tape. 1968 Coronet R/T

Good question. It's blue. ![]() Pretty sure it's the 471. I have it in 3mm and 6mm. The narrower tape takes a bit more effort but good for really tight radii. Mostly I use the 6mm. Chris
