inner fender painting

purchased a vehicle that was damaged, inner fender was replaced and i want to paint this area myself with rattle cans and reinstall parts that are located in this area and other reassembly then have hood and fender painted professionally. what should i use. also if a dumb **** was to use regular primer from home depot or lowes, ie. rustoleum. what would said dumb **** have to do then. not that this has happened or anything. thanks

I would just let the shop handle trimming the fender in when they do the repair on the car.When you use a rattle can(it's a lacquer base product)you run the risk of having a compatability problem with the products the shop will use.Most shops would just remove anything you have done before they procede with the repairs anyway and then charge you for it.The rattle cans aren't a good idea.If the person you are refering to wants to he/she can sand all the primer off and then take it in to the shop, or remove the primer with lacquer thinner on a rag.HTH.
