My '89 BMW 735 has bad clearcoat on the trunk lid-it's crazed. Do I need to strip down to the metal? What is the correct procedure to prepare for repainting? I may not finish coat as I don't have any color matching skills, but I think I can do all the prep work and hire the body shop to shoot it with color and clear. Thanks.

I would DA all of the problem paint and then seal it and 2K prime and block. then take it to a shop.
