You've got it right, just be sure you cut out all the weak metal, and weld to good solid metal. Trying to weld on a thinned out piece is frustrating!

I would go a little further and include the Bend past the screws sticking through.
That area were your pattern template stops appears to be pitted as well when zoomed in. Welding to Pitted rusted metal is no fun, It can be done but I would go a little farther to avoid it and get to good clean metal. Making your Patterns with the heavy card board from a Soda or Beer 12 pack box's makes a better pattern to work with. Sorta like heavy construction paper only tougher. Dennis B.

Thought I would show what I accomplished.. it came out really good in my opinion-- strong, and has the factory look where the right angle is. I welded w piece ( pic) to replicate the OEM look, and it added strength to the floorpan piece. after grinding, priming, seam sealed with brushable sealer and applied a bit of rocker texture. now, just finishing color to match the rest of 60 year old floor.
this was my first floorpan, and first time with a welder so overall, i learned a new skill ( and enjoy it), and did it myself. Michael Last edited by mibi on Thu Jan 18, 2024 6:22 am, edited 1 time in total.
