I Tried this stuff and had thought it was the way to go but after trying to Mig weld through it and Tig weld through it Im Grinding my metal clean with a Hi speed Wire brush before welding just my opinion but I don't like the stuff. Might be ok for using it as a Rust barrier on the back side of a panel as its Hi in Zinc but as far as welding through it I don't like it.

Nothing new there. Use a flat bottom drill through plug weld holes to remove primer prior to welding. Or just epoxy and clean out holes prior to welding. Then treat/coat cavities, backsides, seams and pinchwelds with numerous products available as per standard practice.

Thanks for agreeing Scott I know it comes from experience with the problem.
Ya know using a good weld thru primer Hi in Zink sounds like a good Idea but its a shame it doesn't work as well as bare clean steel, Just cant get a good ground threw it I guess? But any place I clean up real nice first no problem nice spot weld bead.

I guess its another one of those wives tales things that are said to work but don't?
Clean bare steel to clean bare steel that works every time!

What brand did you use. I use copperweld and achieve good results. Used others and turn out like poop. Also it's generally used to create a rust proof surface and more heat tolerance. I would get a hand held spot blaster with recovery sack and just spot blast the weld zones after you apply the weld thru primer.
Good work don't come cheap, cheap work isn't always good!

Hi Mike sorry for delay kept forgetting to look at empty can of the stuff.

Its Made by CROWN called or Labeled "Brite Galvanize coating" "65% ZInc rich"
My Weld Jobber had it on shelf labeled for weld through primer I just grabbed it and decided to give it a try.
Well I do not like welding through the stuff I can tell ya that BUT it is one Tuff coating once applied to bare steel. As I have been removing a lot of it for welding and its hard to remove fully. I do like that its so rich in Zinc the Parts I have coated with it should stay Rust free for a very long time. I will be getting another can of it just to use in places were Paint cant get too easily behind panels and such.
