I've been thinking about getting a Miller 215 multimatic or whatever. The one that does Mig, Tig and stick. Does anyone have one they tried out?

How is it?

Miller produces quality equipment, and a good warranty, that machine is great for the person that wants the ability to mig, tig, and stick, ... be aware that the tig accessories are not included with the welder...also the tig operation is DC only so you won`t be able to tig any aluminum,

Yeah i noticed that but it can mig aluminum. I havent really welded much and i dont have a n-50p socket hooked up or whatever its called. Going to talk to the electrician to see how much it would be to run one in the garage. But you can mess around with a 110 socket on the millers too.

Seems like a nice small starter kit for a hobby welder. The lincoln mvp or whatever was another option but i like the miller alot and i can find the lincoln for 999 anymore.

To mig aluminum you will need to buy the spool gun, running a spool of aluminum wire at the machine gets you nothing but bird nests, one little kink and it all goes bad.... its still a great welder for someone starting out

A spool gun is a must for Alum.
I have several pieces of Miller equipment Love them all.

Maybe You can run an extension cable from your dryer plug to get 220 ? I have done it in a pinch

This combo welder is Millers answer to Everlast welders, which in the past few yrs has been giving Miller and Lincoln a run for their money by offering welders with all the bells and whistles for less than half of what they charge, Everlast is made in China and brought to the USA through Canada, the downside has been no place to get service, it needs to be shipped out, But I`ve heard really good things about them, I bought a Everlast inverter 50 plasma cutter two yrs ago for$ 500.00 right from their website, I`ve had no problems at all with it

Don't have an outlet at all. dryers on gas. But ive heard you can get 240 by someone just connecting two 110V together to get the 220 or whatever. Obviously an electrician and done behind the socket but you gotta hook up like fuse/relay type stuff. I don't know im not electrican.

Yeah a spool gun, tig kit, etc is some money. I can piece meal it, I don't have to do it all at once. Practicing wth some flux and mig would be great. Plus I wouldn't want to be renting 3-4 tanks of different gas right of the back.

I'll check out everlast. I was thinkign about getting a cheaper mig and then maybe just getting a solo tig down the road.

Its true two 110 do make 220 but they really should be threw a 220 breaker in your C/B box anything less is asking for a fire I wouldn't just tie two legs together.

I have never used Flux core on a car so I wont comment on it.
I prefer Gas or Tig easier to work the bead

Yeah I hear you, im neverous about the whole thing. If I had a big shed in the back thats one thing but I realize im risking the house with anything I do which would be detrimental. I am waiting to talk to an electrician when he comes back. Im just thinking it might be easier if I can just sacrifice a 110 outlet and have him rig up all the breakers and jazz. But maybe he would have to run a new line. I'm not sure.

Yeah the flux stuff was really just to get a feel for the new machine cause I think even the miller comes with a free roll of flux. Just like painting I have a bunch of scrap fenders, brake parts and other assorted metal I would use for the learning curve.

This everlast is news to me and im going to look into it a bit more. Because I still have to save up some more to the point where I have 3,000 saved and ready to blow on all the welding stuff. They have a TIG welder for 280 bucks!

Which I could run on a 110 while I figure the rest out. I'm not going to go in and say "hey I got a welder, let me design and weld in a roll cage so I can go to watkins glen." But might be nice to practice with. I can try some repairs on my 98 Corolla, since its worth junk anyway. How is that welder? Really looking good altough I haven't looked at all the specs, I could be able to set that up with some 75/25 with a bunch of accessories for about 1000 bucks.
