I want to increase the size of the hole from the trunk thru the passenger seat(when it's folded down). Is it possible to just use a saw or should you put some metal bars to help keep car stability?

I have 2000 Solara.

Regardless of what you have if you remove metal you are taking away from the vehicle structure.

Impossible to say what would happen but I would assume if the manufacturer didn't need the material they would have saved some money and mass and removed!

Modifying cars has been around since day one.

Can the metal be removed Ya it can yes a Small Die Grinder and metal cutting blades are all you need. Does it need to be reinforced after words? Most probably be a good idea any way .

Need to see a picture of what you got and see what you wanna do then see what can be done to reinforce whats left.
